Bali is a single Indonesian island that manages to hold several unrelated holidays at once. The south is beaches, surf breaks and a long strip of restaurants and beach clubs; the middle is terraced rice fields, river gorges and Ubud; the east and north are quieter, with volcanoes, dive sites and villages that see a fraction of the traffic. Choosing between them matters more than choosing a hotel.
It is also, unlike most of Indonesia, predominantly Hindu, and the religion is visible everywhere — daily offerings on doorsteps and pavements, temples on cliffs and in lakes, and ceremonies that close roads without warning. That texture is a large part of why the island holds people's attention beyond the beaches.
The trade-off is traffic. The south is genuinely congested and distances that look short on a map can take a long time, so a plan that hops between Seminyak, Ubud and Uluwatu every day will spend a lot of it in a car. Most people who enjoy Bali pick one base, or split the trip in two.

Every stay you book through DerLeng Free pays you back. The rate is shown on each hotel before you book, and it lands in your DerLeng balance as LENG after your stay — hold it at a fixed value, convert it to USDC, or cash it out. Frequently asked questions about Bali
Where should I stay in Bali?
It depends entirely on the trip. Seminyak is the central, convenient south-coast base with the most within walking distance. Ubud is inland among rice terraces and suits a trip about culture and landscape rather than beaches. Canggu is more relaxed and surf-oriented, Uluwatu is dramatic and remote, and Sanur is calm and residential. Many people split a week between a coastal base and Ubud rather than choosing one.
How many nights do I need in Bali?
Five to seven is the usual minimum for the island to be worth the flight, and it comfortably covers one coastal base plus a few nights in Ubud. Fewer than four and the traffic between areas will eat a noticeable share of the trip, which is the most common complaint from short visits.
When is the best time to visit Bali?
April to October is the dry season. April to June and September to October are the sweet spots — dry but without the July and August peak crowds and rates. The November to March wet season brings heavy afternoon downpours rather than all-day rain, and it is the cheapest and quietest time to go.
Is it easy to get around Bali?
Getting around is the island's weak point. There is no useful public transport for visitors, the south is genuinely congested, and journeys between areas routinely take much longer than the distance suggests. Most people use ride-hailing apps, hire a driver by the day, or rent a scooter. It is the main reason to pick one base rather than moving daily.
How much does a hotel in Bali cost?
The range is very wide — guesthouses and homestays at one end, private-pool villas and international resorts at the other, with prices varying by area as much as by standard. Rates peak in July and August and are lowest in the wet season. The list on this page is priced live for your dates, so you are seeing real figures rather than an estimate.
Do I earn cashback on Bali hotels too?
Yes — the rate is shown on each property before you book, exactly as it is everywhere else on DerLeng Free. It is credited to your balance as LENG after your stay, and you can hold it, convert it to USDC, or cash it out. You pay for the room normally.
