Sihanoukville is Cambodia’s deep-water port and its main beach city, sitting on a headland on the Gulf of Thailand with sand on three sides of it. For most travellers it is two things at once: a stretch of coast in its own right, and the place the islands are reached from, because the fast ferries to Koh Rong and its neighbours leave from here.
It is a proper city rather than a resort strip, and the beaches along it are genuinely different from one another — Ochheuteal is the busy one with everything on it, Otres is the long stretch to the south, and the smaller beaches sit on the other side of the headland near the older part of town. The long stretch of sand south of the centre, more spread out than Ochheuteal and set back from the busiest part of town. A mix of beachfront places and smaller hotels just behind them.

The beach and the strip at one end of Ochheuteal, and one of the busiest corners of the city for eating and drinking. Central, walkable, and the least quiet option on this list.
Independence & Victory Beach
The smaller beaches on the other side of the headland, near the port and the older part of the city. A different feel from the main strip, and a base for anyone who would rather be in the city than on the beach road.
